INTRODUCTION OF OUR SCHOOL
NURTEN YETİMOĞLU Technical and Industrial Vocational High School founded in 2001- 2OO2 academic year, for the first time officially opened its doors with its departments of Computer, Electrics and Electronics. However, afterwards it has been expanded with industrial department in 2009-2O10 which is also the year when the previous name of our school has been changed with the current one in terms of vocational naming. The name of our school comes from the wife of the former chief constable of Adana province who led the school to be built by Seyhan police foundation. This unique and extraordinary school has been donated to the Turkish National Education. ![]() Our school, which is undoubtedly the best of present technical and industrial vocational high schools located in north Adana, has a capacity of 392 students in grades 9 through 12.Compared to the any other schools in the district, it is not only because our school has got more widespread use of technological facilties but has got also a magnificent view which is intertwined with natural beauty and greenery,It is widely regarded as prominent school. Our school provides vocational education under two programmes, SECURITY SYSTEMS in the department of Electrics and Electronics and also DATABASE PROGRAMMING in the department of Information Technology. The students in our school are provided with pratical skills which allows them to engage in careers which involve manual or pratical abilities and also are provided with vocational and technical skills with the aim of training qualified personnel, besides this our school enables its students not only to do lesson in a relaxed atmosphere but also to perform learned skills pratically in workshops so as to enhance student?s achievement.In accordance with the education-teaching cirriculum performed in our school, mixed students(boys- girls) are admitted to our school each year. The all-day education is given in our school. Our school comprises three main departments in terms of vocational High School as well as the other subjects taught in accordance with the general curriculum of theTurkish National Education (such asTurkish language literature, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Physics, History, Mathematics, Geometry, Physical education, English, National security, Philosophy, Religious ana Ethics Lesson,Traffic and First aid, Health knowledge, Music and the other elective lessons.) ![]() These are; Anatolian vocational and Anatolian technical and also industrial vocational high school, all of which have got five workshop units which have been fully equipped with information and communication and also internet access. The school provides its students with a four- year education in 12 classrooms with a 30- student capacity. In addition Our school has got a room of department chieftaincy of Electrics and Electronics, a room of department chieftaincy of information technology , a staff room,administrative rooms ( principal room,five vice principal rooms)a room of English language department ,a library,a sports room,school guidance counselor's room,school family association's room, a multi-purpose hall with almost a hundred-people capacity,a science laboratory, a civil servant room and a canteen and also has got a garden which is encircled with various trees and flowers which are regularly maintained. STUDENT ADMISSION PROCESS TO OUR SCHOOL Students are enrolled in our school according to the results of the High School Placement test (STS)held by the ministry of National education(MEB) during the enrollment period. However, except for the industrial department. Each year 120 students including the ones (30) in the industrial department are enrolled in the grades 9.However, if the quota is still empty, Pre-enrolling is continued to be done according to the degree of success of the students who take the High School Placement Test until the school quota is full.On the other hand ,the students who apply for the industrial department of our school, are enrolled in grade 9 only according to the degree of success in the Primary School diplomas of their own. ![]() LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION OF OUR SCHOOL Our school is situated on the secondary road descending down to the villas located on the slopes on the right side of Süleyman Demirel Boulevard in the district of ÇUKUROVA which is at a distance of approximately 15 km from the city center of Adana province. On seeing the sign post of our school on the right side of Süleyman Demirel Boulevard, take the secondary road descendig down to our school. The school, which can easily be reached by means of transportation such as buses, minibuses and the other vehicles, has got a wonderful and unique view of Seyhan lake dam. Our school, which is situated in the complex of the foundation for unity power(GÜÇ BİRLİĞİ VAKFI) is surrounded by the villas overlooking the dam lake. School minibus transportation is provided to all students who live far away from school. Our school administration is the only authorized and responsible for school transportation. At the time of enrollment, both the students are enrolled for school transportation and minibus route schedules are planned using the information provided to our school, based on each student's residental address. School transportation is put into service at start of the new school year. SPORTS FACILITIES The school administration pay a great attention to sports activities which provide its students'mental and physical developement. As a result of this, they never avoid spending the money needed for the sports facilities. The school administration strongly believe that students learn considerable positive spirits from sports activities as well as from libraries. Through participation in sports activities, students learn teamwork, sportsmanship, winning and losing, the rewards of hard work, self-discipline, build self-confidence, and develop skills to handle competitive situations. These are qualities that students need to become responsible adults and productive citizens. Our school has got outdoor basketball, voleyball grounds and a football field. The students regulary make sporting activities not only under supervision of the physical education teacher but also make individual or groups activities in their free-time. Furthermore our school offers its students the swimming course and opportunities thanks to AYAS swimming pool which is situated very close to our school. Every year Our school participates in the basketball, volleyball and football tournaments held in the province of Adana. ![]() THE ROLE OF OF PARENTS'ASSOCIATION IN OUR SCHOOL As all parents of students of our school are members of the association, the majority do not need to be involved in the day-to-day activities of the association. Usually the parents'association elect a committe who manage the responsibilities of the parents'association of behalf of all parents. After The formation of committee is determined, activities are undertaken and put into practice in a praisworthy effort. School Parents'Association?s involvement with the school helps to enhance the work of the teachers and staff. Working together they help to build a better educational environment for our students. It is their goal to ensure that the students have as much the learning experience as possible. Of course, in order to be able to provide all these events, they need fund raising On behalf of the students, staff, and teachers, all these activities are carried out primarily with the contribution of parents and of course donations of the charitable citizens. We are all so thankful for their help in these efforts. School Parents'association is especially active in Organising Fund Raising Events for the school, arranging talks on topics of interest to parents, e.g. guest speaker on parenting/discipline etc and Organising welcome events for new students to the school and also Channelling parents'views on school policy issues to our school administration. Each year, they hold The 24 November Teachers Day Celebrations and several Family Fun Nights with the aim of fundraising from participants and also each year they buy the clothing and essential needs with the money raised on behalf of the students in need and they are fairly distirbuted by the school Parents' association.These are only a few of the good events they plan for the students in our school.They are excited for this year and they can not wait to share our events with your children. COUNSELLİNG AND GUİDANCE IN OUR SCHOOL Our guidance counselor helps students evaluate their abilities, interests and personality traits in order to achieve academic success and develop realistic goals. And also collabrotes with parents and teachers to devise and implement strategies so that students can succeed in school and cope with, fear, discomfort, anxiety stress and that kind of problems which can lead serious disease in adulthood. Student are helped to deal with social, behavioral and personal problems. School counselor must be able to inspire trust and confidence, and need a strong desire to help others. ABSENCE AND LATENESS Students are expected to attend classes each day and be ready by 7.50 am. Latecomers are registered by duty teachers before going to class.Teacher keep a record of absence and tardiness.No student is allowed to leave school ground without permission from school administration.We do not encourage parents to take their children out of school time for holidays. If students take days off, other than when they are ill it is all too easy to fall behind in their school work and miss out on things. If students take unnecessary time off school, not only do they let themselves down but also their classmate. Students'absences are monitored by the vice pricipal involved on a daily basis ın case of excessive absences of students. Letter of information and warning are periodically sent the residental adress of parents. Parents should cantact school administration to notify concerning their children's absence from class as soon as possible (either by phone or in person) Students have got officially 20 unexcused absent days and 25 excused days during the current school year in accordance with regulation on attendance-absenteeism of the national education (considering the excused absences are included in these 25 days however, only for the grades 12 ıf parents wish, they can apply to the school administration to get permission for their chidren who prepare for university entrance examination at certain intervals.) whenever possible, they can easily monitor their children's absences via the internet in electronic media.(e-okul) Excused absences are usually granted for circumstances such as illness the funeral of any relative or a close friend and other serious personal emergencies.If students absence is Medical, then he or she has to receive treatment report from Health services involved to bring to school.In serious situations where the student is incapacitated and temporarily unable to contact, family members may contact the school administration or a teacher at 235 21 50 for assistance with these matters. BREAK TİME AND END OF DAY Our school starts at 8:00 am and ends at 16:30. Our lunch break is from 12:40 to 13:20 we have 10 classes, 40 minutes each class, 10 minutes between classes however, 5 minutes betweeen 5 and 9 classes. Students are allowed inside the School buildings during break-times but not to eat inside except when given permision to do so. They are required to keep their hands clean and take care of personal hygiene in the toilets during breaks and remain on schoool grounds during school hours and recess breaks. No students loiter in the toilets more than required and students must keep the toilets clean and also use the toilets and leave promply. The students are taken out for ventillation of the classrooms during the breaks.Students are told not to loiter in the corridors and go out into garden of school.They may be allowed to go to the library during the recess breaks. Students can only leave the schools grounds when they are going straight to their transport or walking directly home. All students should have left the school grounds by 16.30 unless involved in activity. MISSION To raise students as citizens who can both have adequate vocational knowledge and become outstanding equipped and qualified in order to be able to continue higher education in their fields by providing education-teaching services in line with basic goals and principles outlined in the fundamental law of national education. VISION To become vocational and technical education institution which strongly aims to be a brand winning its stakeholders satisfacition and also raises students as citizens who not only adhere to their country,nation and family as well as being hard-working and disciplined human beings and also who adopt universal values of humanity and who can make an outstanding performance in vacational and academic areas. VALUES Loyalty to Turkish Republic, Turkish nation and Ataturk?s principles and revolutions, being scientific, universality, usefulness to community, modernity, creativity, participation, reliability. GENERAL RULES AND BEHAVİOURS TO BE OBEYED BY EVERY STUDENT AT SCHOOL 1.Students are required to attend school regularly and line up properly in the places allocated to their own classes in the morning assembly as soon as the first bell rings. 2.They are required to protect and respect the school property,personal property and other's property. 3.Smoking, drinking and drug possession is strongly prohibited. 4.Students are required to be correctly dressed in full daily uniform at all times and school functions and maintain a neat appearance, including adhering to the requirements of the school?s uniform and dress code policy. 5.Students must not possess any kind of weapons when in school or in other places 6.They have to obey the special rules of the places such as laboratories, computer rooms workshops and school library. 7.Sudents can not use profanity and slang words with each other and Good manners and a high standard of behaviour are required at all times and they are required to respect all members of the school community in the rules of etiquette and courtesy and Use appropriate language at all times. 8.Students must not waste electricity or water. 9.All students's hair must be kept short all the time. No student is accepted in school with long hair. They should be neat and tidy. 10.Students may bring mobile phones to school However they must be switched off at all times. At the time of the class. the ringing mobile phone is confiscated by the school administration with an offical report and it is returned to student'parents in June. Urgent calls home must be made from the landline of school. 11 Fighting and bullying are punishable offences by school administration. 12.Students have to put litter in the garbage cans. 13.Students are strictly forbidden from bringing items such as cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, drugs, audio/video cassettes or recordings, photo albums, magazines, make up or cosmetics and other beauty accessories. 14.Girls are not allowed to wear facial make-up, jewelery and nail polish whilst in school and if the hair is below the collar or covers the eyes, it must be pulled back in a ponytail.Streaked or artificially coloured hair is not allowed. 15.Students have to change back into their school uniforms after the PE lessons. 16.Students must walk silently and orderly along the corridor. 17.Running and shouting in the school premises are not allowed. 18.Only girls are allowed to wear hair accessories such as hair bands or hair clips which must be black, dark blue or dark brown in colour. 19.Male students must be neat in appearance, clean-shaven and Sideburns, moustache and beard are not allowed. CLASSROOM RULES FOR STUDENTS 1.Students have to enter classes on time and be in their assigned seat and ready for class. 2.Students must come to class prepared to learn . 3.Students must stand up to greet the teacher before the lesson. 4.Students are required to bring school materials with them? (Pencils, sharpeners, pens paper, books and notebooks) After entering the classroom,they can not go back out to take materials. 5.Students have to complete and hand in all assignments on time. 6.When in classroom, students must not make a loud noise. 7.Students arent allowed to interrupt other students' learning and behave appropriately to their teachers and friends. 8.Students have to listen to your teacher and participate in class and raise their hands before speaking. 9.When finished with personal and school belongings, students must put them away. 10.Students are not allowed to leave the classroom without their teachers? approval. 11.If students borrow chairs from another room, they must return them to that room. 12.Duty students must erase the chalkboard at the time of the break..Wall and chalkboards must be kept clean. Students should not play with chalk and eraser or write anything on the chalkboards. 13.Students must not write unnecessarily on the chalkboard during the break time. 14.No ball games are allowed in the classroom space. 15.Students must not write or carve on their desk or school property and also throw rubbish on the floor. 16.Ridiculing, mocking, or laughing at the mistakes of others are bad manners and should be avoided 17.Students should not lean out of the window.
